Yeah, it's been a while since I last posted. Been busy like you wouldn't believe.

And I suppose that that might preclude my participation in NaNo this year.

It's October, and I already feel the excitement that builds up during this month. Not to mention that the weather has been awfully nice. Blue sky, cool winds. What can be better for fall? It's made me think back to my two previous NaNo's. Heh, heh, they definitely weren't masterpieces. And the '08 novel isn't even finished. Haven't had the time.

However, I do have ideas for this year. Several. What makes this difficult is that I'm not likely going to use an idea I've had in my head for a while. I already did that the last two NaNo's, and for right now my stock of ideas is kind of low. Or, rather, I have extraneous ideas that need to converge. Do I have any outstanding ideas for characters? No. Plot? Not exactly. Setting? Oh, yes.

I have an idea I can work with. Sort of inspired by what I've done before and by Princess Mononoke. (If you haven't seen that movie, you should. Hayao Miyazake. Best Japanese animation ever.) I want the setting to take place mostly in the wilderness. Seeing that that takes it away from human habitations, that could pose a problem. So there has to be world-building and character-sketching before NaNo begins... if I decide to participate.

Tough year, but I'm still excited.
